Code snippets on Google

Ok Google,

I get it, you are trying to provide relevant results for any given query.  In fact yesterday I was party to a presentation from the big G where our presenter said it is their goal to provide only one result for your query! i.e. being so in tune with your desires, state of mind, intent, emotional status etc that that one result is exactly what you are looking for.  Lofty and I would say scary aspirations, either probes in the brain or a situation where what you are given is what you want (not the other way round as it should be).

So I have to say that their attempt to include code snippets in the serps is a step away from that totalitarian ideal.  I was looking for the finer points of the htmlentities function and got this result.

I cannot think of an instance when that query “htmlentities” would ever be answered by half a dozen snippets of random code that happen to have the htmlentities function in them!!!!

Honestly!!

I have a chocolate teapot for sale if anyone is interested.
